The Winners of the Sixth Annual Scholarship Competition
The Sandwich REALTORS® Scholarship Fund is proud to announce the winners of its 7th annual scholarship competition for high school seniors who are residents of Sandwich. The purpose of the Scholarship is to promote interest in the architectural and social history of the Sandwich community as reflected in the Town’s historic properties. This year the scholarship committee had the difficult task of choosing from a field of seven highly qualified entries in determining the winners. Three scholarships in the amount of $3,000 were awarded to the top three entries during an awards breakfast at the recently restored Sandwich Town Hall on 1 June 2010.
The 2011 Winners
Brad Mason, Emily Duerr and Carly Tafft
Brad Mason
Brad played football and baseball for Pope John Paul II High School during his 4 years of high school, and next year will be attending Marist College with an undeclared major.
Emily Duerr
Graduating 3rd in her class at Sandwich High School, Emily will be entering the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida to study Chemistry and Pre-Medicine. She is planning on attending medical school, possibly as an enlisted Air Force Officer, to study to become a doctor. Her intention is to become a surgeon.
Carly Tafft
Carly will be attending Berklee College of Music in Boston this fall and will focus her studies on songwriting, production, and music business in the 'make your own major' "Professional Music. She has been singing and playing guitar for four years, and writing songs ever since she was about 13. She is a member of the National Honors Society, SHS Varsity Jazz Band, SHS Style (Eltie choir group), Knights Theater Company, and was co-captain of the junior varsity softball team for two years.
The Committee wishes to thank the many Sandwich Realtors® who contributed their time and effort to making the fund raising effort a huge success and also the sponsors and contributors who gave so willingly to support the SRSF Scholarship Fund.
